Chris holds mining qualifications in both the United States and Australia including Underground Foreman (New Mexico, United States) and Open Cut Examiner (New South Wales, Australia) and has been certified to conduct safety and health investigations through the ICAM Incident Lead Investigator Program. Chris’ diverse background includes varied roles and experience in risk management, leading incident investigations, internal assurance audits, process safety, statutory inspections, contractor management, continuous improvement, technical services and varied operational leadership roles.
Chris’ critical risk survey experience includes audits across multiple commodities, both surface and underground mines, as well as with processing and logistics infrastructure.
Duggie Livingstone
Duggie is a bachelor’s Degree qualified Engineer and has experience in Engineering and Maintenance Management positions, working predominantly for multinational companies including 19 years’ experience in Aluminium Smelting and 7 years in a hard rock Aggregate business. He is experienced in the application of Asset Management and Reliability Engineering best practice, developing maintenance strategies, implementation of Condition Monitoring programs and working within heavy engineering environments on Mechanical and Electrical equipment. Duggie’s previous roles have also included responsibility for the delivery of capital projects and leading continuous improvement projects as a certified Green Belt.

Alejandro has 13 years of experience in underground and surface mines with wide experience in maintenance and engineering solutions, development of preventative and predictive maintenance programs across processing plant operations and project management of major projects. He commenced with Hawcroft in April 2018.

Ben Smith
Ben is a Mining Engineer and holds the degrees of Bachelor of Engineering (Mining, Hons), Bachelor of Commerce (Mgmt), Graduate Diploma (Mine Ventilation), and Master of Engineering (Mining Management). He holds a First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate in both Underground and Open Cut, Second- and Third-Class Certificates, a Ventilation Engineers Certificate, and a Ventilation Officer’s Certificate. He is qualified auditor and Competent Person for JORC Reserves.
He is an experienced mining engineer, mine manager, technical professional and consultant with small, medium, and large operations globally. He has 27 years industry experience and has consulted or worked in Australia, India, Mongolia, China, Canada, Turkey, USA, Poland, South Africa, New Caledonia, Chile, and Madagascar. Ben started with Hawcroft in 2017 and professional interest areas in risk-reduction through design, optimisation, technology and operating effectiveness.

He has extensive experience in underground coal mining, and has been involved in Development, Pillar Extraction and Longwall mining, both operationally and in mine design through various feasibility studies. He has held many Senior Management roles in both mining and has mining qualifications including Site Senior Executive, Mine Manager Certificate, Ventilation Officer and various risk-based qualifications. Greg commenced with Hawcroft in 2013 and is based in Yeppoon Australia.
Ian Kraemer
Ian has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mining Engineering and First and Second Class Coal Mine Manager’s Certificates. Over a 40 year career spanning underground and surface coal, gold and nickel mining in Australia and the USA, Ian held roles from underground coal miner to Managing Director. During the last five years, Ian founded and managed two clean and renewables mining companies. He joined Hawcroft in 2022 and is based in Brisbane.
James Ball
James has 19 years of extensive experience in hard rock quarrying and Aluminium Smelting. He has progressed from maintenance engineering positions to leadership roles. James is experienced in managing maintenance teams, leading projects, and extensive refurbishment programs. He is certified in risk management, process safety, and Lean Six Sigma to Green Belt level, focusing on continuous improvement and holds multiple engineering qualifications. He has extensive experience in maintaining mobile and static plant machinery, as well as rail wagon fleet, rail network, and ship loading/unloading operations. Furthermore, he has a strong background in risk management and incident investigation and has conducted numerous site critical audits.

Jonathan has 19 years’ experience in the underground coal mining industry, is a certified Mine Foreman in multiple states, and has a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering. Jonathan has held multiple management positions, and has experience in mine ventilation, roof control, mine planning and budgeting.
Jose Luis Nevarez Lopez
Jose is a Mechanical Engineer, with more than 17 years experience in the industrial, construction and mining sectors. Jose specialises in budget management, planning, technical resources and team development. He has successfully completed projects through various phases such as financial feasibility studies, detail engineering, construction and commissioning. Jose has an assertive, proactive leadership focus with excellent managerial skills. Jose is fluent in Spanish and English. He recently joined Hawcroft in 2021.

Moira is a Fire Safety and Risk Engineer with 17 years' experience in the consulting and mining industries, and is based in Perth, Western Australia. She has experience in large industrial projects, underground mining, surface mining, refining process and smelting operations. Moira has previously worked as the subject matter expert for mining companies providing technical advice, undertaking fire risk assessments, delivering strategic asset reliability planning, and developing maintenance continuous improvement and best practice frameworks.

Paul has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical), Master of Engineering Science (Engineering Management), and is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). He has more than 30 years experience providing mechanical engineering services to domestic and international clients in mining, power generation, oil and gas, transportation, aviation, civil engineering and building. His expertise covers materials testing, strain gauging, failure analysis, corrosion investigations, vibration analysis, non-destructive testing and asset management. Paul also has over 10 years experience providing risk management services to the mining and power generation sectors, including rail and ports.
Scott Jones
Scott has over forty years of experience in coal mining. He has operating and managing experience with mining operations in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, USA, and Queensland and New South Wales in Australia. He was hired by BHP as a member of the original team that designed and operated the San Juan Mine in New Mexico. He was Vice President and a member of the Executive Leadership Team for BMA in Brisbane as Head of Production for Underground Mining. Currently he consults on his own with clients in the US and Australia. Scott’s experience encompasses all aspects of mining from employee to governmental relations to real world crisis management and overcoming geological and technical mining issues.

Scott is a mining engineer who has worked across the Australian mining industry for 37 years in both open pit and underground hard rock operations. Working as a General Manager leading the Safety, Health and Risk function across Newcrest Mining for 8 years implementing major initiatives to improve performance and more recently as an operational General Manager in the mid-tier sector leading various medium size mining operations implementing turnaround strategies to improve HSEC and cashflow outcomes. He is passionate about assisting companies to improve their risk management performance and control frameworks across operations.

Tshediso holds a Mining degree and has 38 years' experience in opencast and hard rock deep level mining in both gold, diamonds and platinum sectors. Tshediso has over 18 years' experience in senior management roles that include General Manager and Vice President in different mining groups in South Africa. He is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and is the past president of the Association of Mine Managers of South Africa (AMMSA).
Tshediso acquired skills that include leadership, project management, operations management, SHEQ and risk, community engagements, negotiations and stakeholder relations during his career.

With over twenty-five years of experience with large, multinational mining companies, experience has been focused on Asset Management, Maintenance, Reliability and Business Performance improvements.

His background includes the design and development of software utilizing the. .NET framework and MSSQL Server, systems administration of Windows-based servers, and management of projects and personnel.
